Krišjāņa Barona (1835 – 1923) atmiņas sniedz ieskatu izcilā latviešu folklorista dzīves gājumā ― aptverot bērnības un skolas gaitas Kurzemes pusē, studiju laiku Tērbatā, kā arī Krievijā pavadītos gadus.

Krišjāņa Barona dēla Kārļa Barona un vedeklas Līnas Baronas stāstā Dainu tēvu iepazīstam brieduma gados un mūža novakarē, kad noslēgusies „Latvju dainu” vākšana, uzkrāšana un izdošana.

Grāmatā izmantots 1924. gadā apgādā „Valters un Rapa” izdotais Krišjāņa Barona atmiņu krājums Līnas Baronas sastādījumā.
