My Sisters Keeper is a powerful and emotional film of a family whose daughter has Leukaemia and another child is genetically engineered to keep the first daughter alive as a human donor because of the use of the umbilical cord blood, bone marrow etc.

The film is moving and opens a vivid window into those suffering with the effects of cancer and how a family can be torn and divided in the midst of such pressures and the fight for ones life. As the films asks: `Does one have the right to live (or die) at the expense of another?'

The younger donor daughter decided that she must have control over her body and files a case to prevent her parents from having one final body part, which they believe will keep the oldest daughter alive.

There is a good twist to the film, and also one outburst of the F word and the pressure pot of a day out at the beach explodes into a possible divorce. A stirring movie.

Jeeze 
One day i will learn my lesson i really will. I watched Confessions of a Shopaholic after i read the book. That film was rubbish. After finishing My Sister's Keeper earlier this evening, i couldnt resist and i went and found the film on a certain tubey site. Even though i had heard it wasnt like the book, i still watched it all.

And boy what a letdown! Jesse in the film, is so rubbish. They dont capture him at all, he's not the pyromaniac, angry person he is in the book, he's dyslexic and likes to hang on street corners till late, i mean come on!

Julia isnt in the film at all. Campbell Alexander is rubbish in the film. Such an important person in Anna's life in the book and he's barely there in the film. And his dog is a German Shepherd! Not a Border Collie as portrayed here. These things may seem little but are important.

Brian is, well why is he there? Just because they needed a dad in the film, he barely does anything. He doesnt even look at the stars once.

Judge De Salvo is a woman. One of the best scenes in the book is when Sara shaves her head, and so does Anna to be like Kate. You wont find Anna doing that here. And the fact that she was only 11 in the film and Kate 15 really annoyed me.

Another fab scene in the book is Kate pretending to drink her own urine, it just doesnt come across so well in the film. All the scenes are too short to have any real meaning.

It's like the director read little snippets of the book instead of the whole thing. The girl who plays Anna, she does it so wrong. Like a robot reading a script that's behind the camera or something. Anna in the book is quiet, afraid of letting her mother down and Kate. This Anna bounds into rooms confidently, and it's Jesse who does the big reveal in court that Kate said she wants to die. He doesnt even go to court in the book. And the ending is completely different to the book and just ruins it all.

Wow ok i'm rambling, I'm just mad at these authors who write good/great books and let the movie bigwigs ruin them. They should be more like J.K Rowling who said she wouldnt let them make films out of her books unless they did it properly, following the exact story. Makes me never want to watch The Lovely Bones so it does!

Saddest Movie Ever 
I'm not being sarcastic. I know I gave this movie one star and that's because, it's too sad.
I didn't enjoy watching it at all. I just felt completely weepy and bummed out at the end.
After seeing it I now need to see something happy to cheer me up, as this film will have me being depressed all day.

If you want to feel depressed or need a good cry, watch this.
It's an interesting film & book, interesting subject. And of course life is so precious & important and
family is the most important thing in life. So live it, embrace it and be positive. This movie is not gonna make you
feel that at all. It's a powerful film, with very good acting. However I would not watch it again.
It's a one-time-watch sort of film.

Painful 
My Thoughts: This film is absolutely painful to watch in the way that it physically hurts to sit through the whole thing from beginning to end without the need to at least shed a few tears. With well drawn out characters, realistic non-drawn out dialogue, and an incredibly moving storyline, you'll find it hard to not weep several times during the course of the movie. While watching this I felt as if I'd just sliced into a very potent chilli Tnd then touched my eyes, it stung, and I was literally sobbing it hurt so bad. That said, the film was incredibly enjoyable and gives you a slightly enlightened perspective on life, if nothing else, but it will NOT give you an all over "good" feeling, in fact, I'd say keep away from this movie with every fibre of your BEING if you're feeling anywhere near depressed, as this could tip you right over the edge.

One of the best parts of this movie is that it is not just told from one character perspective, the story is told in a string of monologues from all of the leading characters perpetuating the story back and forth between the good memories and the bad. All, and all, I have to say again, it hurt so much to watch this film - it's so heartbreaking that I don't think I would ever make it through a second viewing...it'd be too much like letting a wound heal up almost all the way then tearing the scab off to let it bleed all over again. This is a "one time" movie, but I'm glad I got through it.

The Plot: Anna, an 11 year old self-proclaimed "designer chid" who has been biologically engineered to be a perfect donor to her Leukaemia suffering older sister Kate, suddenly without explanation, hires a lawyer to sue her parents for medical emancipation of her body. Sara, the girl's mother, is distraught at the idea of losing her daughter and is desperate to get behind the reason of Anna's sudden rebellion in refusing to donate her much needed kidney to Kate who is in renal failure. As Anna's legal battle for her body goes on, Kate begins to become more fragile and closer to the end, and Sara begins to worry they already may be out of time.
